Wonderful friends, wonderful family and wonderful birthday!

I’ve had a wonderful 24th birthday and a little bit of a sun tan to go with it. The camping trip was so relaxing. We sat around the campfire reminiscing about the good ol’ times. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it any other way. The only thing missing was my Dean guitar. The midnight air breathed softly as we sunk into our tents. We woke to find the beautiful sunshine peeking through to say hello in the morning.

Hi Ho the dairy o!
A Camping we will go

Tomorrow we are heading to the lake/ campground with some of our closest friends to just relax and have a good time. Thus far, it’s been a great birthday. I’ve got to share in my joy with others that mean so much to me. There is something so capturing about sleeping underneath the starry night skies on a bed of green. The stillness and awe of it all silences my soul. What a great opportunity to share the beauty of nature with family, friends, and good food/drink.

Alas! We’re Home Sweet Home.

We arrived home a few hours ago. Ran to Grandma’s house to see our sweet “big” girl whom we missed dearly. Unpacked our things, freshened up and went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. Being both of us we’re craving some good ol’ southern/homemade food. We consumed a lot of gourmet food while vacationing in Eureka Springs so it was nice to have something deep fried/ greasy for a change. Wow! we had an amazing vacation but I was ready to be, ” Home Sweet Home.” Looking back on our vacation I would have’t to give it a score of 9 out of 10 possible points. Pro’s and con’s are as follows: Pro’s- plenty of day/night activities to keep us busy, beautiful outdoor trails not far from historic Eureka Springs, Winery literally five minutes away from cottage, Mixture of several cultures, a wide array of artistry, organic farming, Easy to find coffee shops ( Great coffee), Lodging prices we’re affordable and our cottage was cleaned every day upon arriving back. Con’s- I wasn’t impressed with some of the restaurants service or food. I found a piece of glass in some of Matt’s leftover Alfredo fettuccine which turned my stomach upside down from a particular ” well known” restaurant. Some of the people in the restaurant business we’re very unprofessional and needless to say didn’t receive a plump tip. The weather dampened our plan’s to go backpacking but we managed to still have a good time. Many of the store’s we’re over-priced on certain items but that didn’t stop me from shopping..;) It’s vacation..I plan to enjoy myself and that I did. Goodbye Eureka Springs until next time!

Our rainy day consisted of Gourmet Chocolates, Wildlife Refuge and Antiquing.

Slept in until 9:30 or so and began the process of getting ready. We drove to Historic Eureka springs and visited a Chocolate Factory. There was such a wondrous display of chocolates it was almost baffling. I know you must be wondering what I chose to indulge myself with. The delicate selection was Irish Cream Truffle and Hazelnut Truffle. Might I add, the chocolate was velvety smooth and melted as soon as the chocolate hit the roof of your mouth. One word to describe this experience: Ecstasy. After our indulgences we drove to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. It was a self-guided tour through a maze of every kind of Wild Cat possible. They we’re all so unique in color, shape, personality and size which made the experience even cooler. Some of them would look at you with eyes of steel that could pierce your soul and send chills straight down your back and others we’re so laid back it was like watching Willy Nelson except of course they are a little bit furrier. After leaving the Wildlife shelter we spontaneously stopped at an Antique Shop in which I found some treasures. It seems odd we have been on vacation for almost a week now. Usually are schedules are so rushed between work, school and life. This has by far been the most relaxing vacation ever!
